Hi, I'm Rachel

This is me, in my natural state. A little wind whipped and not 100% put together but genuinely happy.

I’m from Gary, Indiana but I’ve been in San Diego for a long time now. Still, I like to think that Midwest moxie and aptness for a little elbow grease has stayed with me mixing with an open, unjudging curiosity that is so much a part of the culture here in California.

I talk a lot, love to tell a good story, laugh loud, get sentimental, work too much and sleep too little.

Meet the FamBam

This is my family. Moving clockwise: Guy, Harper, Sadie, and Scout. They are crazy and awesome .

My husband is so supportive of my unmistakable need to be creative in nearly every aspect of my life.

I wasn't sure I was supposed to be a mom until Harper was born and then I knew it was going to be the biggest adventure of my life. She proves me right daily.

And the dogs are truly knuckleheads. Their terrier spirit makes them loyal to a fault and a little stubborn.

I'm a Canon Fangirl

People ask me all the time what gear I shoot with which I think is a really neat question.

This is what I typically bring to a session.
Canon 6D
Canon 7D
85mm Prime
35mm Prime
28-135mm Zoom
Fujufilm Instax Mini 8 (Not pictured)

And if you are wondering why Canon, it's because I started with film and the first camera I had was a Canon AE-1. When I switched to digital I wanted to keep my lenses.

'Nuff said.

I'm a Stress Baker

When everything seems like too much I make cookies so if something terrible happens I won't be able to do anything useful but I will feed you.

My favorite recipes include my grandmother's kuchen, Toll House chocolate chip cookies, and strawberry ricotta scones.

Sushi is my favorite food.

I didn't try it until I was in college and now I try to eat it on every possible occasion.

If you really want to make me happy, give me anything with salmon, eel, or tuna.

I'm a Potterhead

I'm an unapologetic geek and perhaps the pinnacle of that is my love for Harry Potter. As a kid I lived in books and Harry Potter was one of the most magical universes I ever experienced.

We don't have cable and we haven't for 5 years so Netflix is our entertainment saving grace.
